Hoax Invoices

Be careful when opening “hoax invoice” emails and even if you think they are from people you know.

We always get asked? how did a Virus / Malware / Spyware get on to my machine. Well here is one way it can happen.

This was a hoax email that went to a customer and looked like it was from a legitimate email account.

“Thanks for the mail.

To download your payment information and pay your invoice click here:
https://kerryj.com/VPUF743757/

We will be happy to assist you if you have any questions about the attached invoice.

Sincerely,”

The way you can tell this was a hoax, is the link its sending you to. It had nothing to do with the customer, but I have seen ones that look like they are real links.

They are trying to catch you when you are busy, so ALWAYS read emails twice and double check!
